Happy weekend everyone! I hope many of you are still overdosing on turkey leftovers. This week I got into a twitter discussion with other sewing/reading nerds about starting some kind of book club. So yesterday I set up a forum called the Sewcialist Book Club. I’m hoping it will be a place where we can talk about what we’re reading, since I don’t often get a chance to do that in real life. I posted about Yes Please by Amy Poehler, which I’ve been reveling in. Check it out and let us know what’s making you turn the page these days – if we get enough of a group I’m hoping we can actually do some sort of monthly discussion on crowd-selected books.
In other news:
So many great jackets this week! Love this cropped oatmeal one from Crab & Bee.
Another beautiful jacket, this one in black from Diary of a Sewing Fanatic.
Miss Celie’s Pants totally has me reconsidering bubble hems with her gorgeous dresses.
A sweet-ass parka with neon trim from Yes I Like That.
My favourite ginger jeans so far, in leopard print from Handmade by Heather B.
I was catching up with the How Was Your Week podcast with Julie Klausner, and fell in love with the ladies from Advanced Style, especially Debra Rapoport. This woman is a style goddess, a DIY icon for the ages.
Speaking of podcasts, I just found a new one! My friend Elliott started The People Podcast, and friendship aside, it’s really great. He has an authentic, warm interview style and he basically just talks to interesting people who do interesting things. They’re all pretty short so it’s a nice interlude in between longer Serial binges.
Have you heard the Alabama Chanin interview on the Thread Cult podcast? Natalie Chanin is incredible.
A great tutorial on how to properly take in wide legged pants from Skinny Bitch, Curvy Chick; great for making View A of Ginger skinnier, or for hacking any other patterns you have.
