Happy Halloween weekend! Hope you had an amazing time filled with candy hangovers and homemade costumes. I had a small panic attack Friday morning because I was still undecided about what to do for a costume. As I looked in my stash trying to figure out what I could last-minute McGyver, I had a “Bob Dylan” brainwave. I’m one of those crazy Dylan lovers who has read every bio and obsessed over every record (except a few weird ones from the late 70’s and early 80’s). I ended up taking a day off work to drive around town trying to find the right curly wig and harmonica holder. It was a pretty simple costume to assemble and was I think the fourth time I’ve gone in drag (see also: John Waters, Prince, Karl Lagerfeld). I think being a man once a year is a nice reprieve from the high-femme thing I do the other 364 days, even if it did give the bf a case of the weirds whenever he looked at me.
I also have a winner for the Tilly & the Buttons “Love at First Stitch” book giveaway! I meant to do this last week but… I um…. forgot. So congratulations Carlee McTavish! Email me with your mailing address and I’ll send it to you this week.
I’ve been wanting to make a leather tote for a while. Love this colourblocked bag by Andrea at Four Square Walls.
I’m hoping to crank out some Linden sweatshirts this week. Obsessed with this acid-wash version by Makes the Things.
This cozy draped plaid coat by Sew Busy Lizzy is the perfect fall everything.
A wicked mermaid pencil skirt over on the Murmur blog.
I got a little emotional reading this beautiful post by Pudge and Nico on “Choosing the Light”.
I’m in love with Frances McDormand and this profile on the New York Times just re-affirmed it.
What’s worse than dieting? How about dieting in the 70’s? These vintage Weightwatchers recipe cards made me cry laugh.
