THIS WEEK IN SEWING BLOGS vol. 82

Happy Sunday everyone! Progress on my Snoqualmie Cardigan is creeping along after a very frustrating few days of constant ripping… Sometimes you just need to put projects in the naughty corner until you have the patience to deal with them. Today I’m holed up in the studio making samples for my next pattern release, and dreaming of spring. Here’s what you’ve been up to.

ADMIRE

This beautiful top from Carolyn took my breath away against that Australian sunset….

I’ve been planning to draft a long line cardigan for over a year now… Erica is really making me want to get on it already.

One of my favourite outfits this week from Rachel Pinheiro – the first time I’ve ever considered corduroy chic!

A b-b-b-ombshell floral dress from Julia Bobbin.

These zippered Ginger Jeans from Suzy Bee Sews are EVERYTHING.

Isn’t this tunic top from True Bias simple and perfect?

KNITTING

Have you seen the #thisishowIknit hashtag on Instagram? Utterly fascinating.

Sonja just gave me a new yarn company to obsess over in her post on hand knit socks. THANKS SONJA.

BRA-MAKING

Need to hit every bra-making supply store on this list from Orange Lingerie the next time I’m in NYC….

Fell down a bra making rabbit hole this weekend. Absolutely LOVE this sexy as all get out sheer tulle bra from Emerald Erin, and this strappy Watson hack from Amy Nicole Studio.

LEARN

Definitely  going to crib the “tape over the needle plate hole” trick from Tilly’s guide to stopping your machine from swallowing fabric.

LISTEN

Love love loved this interview and accompanying post from Karen Templer of Fringe Supply Co. I really appreciate hearing about how other creative entrepreneurs got their start… including the failures.

READ

A couple of great articles in Seamwork this month. I was nodding in total agreement while reading “Breathing Easy” by Jessica Yen, which explores the scientifically proven relaxing qualities of making. Then I was laughing out loud at Jenny Rushmore’s “Field Guide to the Common Sewer”.
