THIS WEEK IN SEWING BLOGS // VOL. 106

Happy Sunday makers! I hope you’re enjoying the cooling temperatures as much as I am. I love wearing big sweaters and socks and lots of layers, even if after Mari Kondo-ing my closet I realized I have many, many holes to fill in my wardrobe if I want to avoid wearing the exact same outfit three times a week. I’ve been stockpiling beautiful autumnal fabrics and the to-make list is getting longer and longer. I need a sewing clone.

Here’s what you’ve been up to.

ADMIRE

Linen dungarees! Such a great fabric/pattern combo from Bobbin & Baste.

More linen brilliance from Crab & Bee with this chic coat.

So many great projects this week from the Style Maker Fabrics tour! Like this pretty tunic from Gray All Day, this lace bomber from Erica and Kelli’s tank/skirt combo.

Peter’s Marimekko pants are the bees knees.

This gorgeous white and yellow striped Rue dress from Les Creations du Papillon is the very definition of cheerful.

Perfect black Ginger Jeans from Dandelion Drift.

Lisa’s floral Sophie swimsuit is flawless.

Two fabulous jumpsuits from Vogue Patterns this fall; I need events for these designs by Rachel Comey & Rebecca Vallance.

WANT

My clog obsession shows no signs of abating, so I was thrilled to peek inside the bryr studio, who make made-to-order clogs in San Francisco. I have spent hours this weekend on their website, completely unable to make a decision because each pair is more beautiful than the last.

INSPIRE

This profile of a Hollywood costume maker in the latest issue of Seamwork is fascinating.

My favourite internet finding this week? These portraits of Ellis Island immigrants in full colour highlighting their beautiful national dress.

A Syrian refugee tailor saves a Canadian woman’s wedding.

Fringe Association is hosting Slow Fashion October and has some very thoughtful things to say about the topic (as per usual with Karen).

ARCHIVE

I cannot WAIT to wear this leopard print cape this month.
