Sewing Blogs

I hope you’re all recovering from your Halloween hangovers, of the candy variety or otherwise. For the first time in my entire adult life I did not make an elaborate costume and try to win a Halloween contest. Instead, I watched my friends get ridiculously dressed up for a few hours and then went home to eat salmon and watch bad 90’s thrillers, because I am full on Whole30 and Halloween might as well be “Sufferween” for everything I cannot eat or drink. I felt surprisingly okay about it, all things considered, especially since I had to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for the new pattern shoot today. Yes, it’s coming. Promise.

Here’s what you guys were up to.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say Rachel made the chic-est sweatshirt of all time.

A lovely printed Appleton from Crafting a Rainbow.

I just made another Inari Tee because it is perfect; here are some lovely versions from Sew DIY and Cut Cut Sew.

How glamorous is The Tell Tale Tasha in this gown?!

I got a chance to see this embroidered tee from Katy of Katy & Lany in person and it’s divine.

A great Tamarack jacket from Bellbird, and quilting tips from Jen on the Grainline blog.

I love finding new Montreal sewing blogs! Check out this great scuba two-piece from Vie Domestique.

Speaking of Montreal bloggers… my friend Natasha made her lovely wedding dress at the very last minute but totally pulled it off.

Nice to see Julia Bobbin back! And in a bombshell dress no less.

Heather B. is wiggletastic in this wiggle dress.

Yet another gorgeous bra set from Kathy Sews.

Looooved this Seamwork Radio episode with guy sewist Mathew Holloway.

If you’ve been reading for a while you’ve probably caught the numerous Joanna Newsom references I’ve made over the years. I think she’s the greatest songwriter of my generation, if not one of the greatest ever; she doesn’t get the credit she deserves because she’s a woman and plays a harp. She just dropped a new record that I have listened to basically on repeat for the last two weeks (this song just slays me) and I’m also reading every interview I can find because she’s just so damn smart. The intro to this interview with Tavi Gevinson for Rookie made me laugh really hard.
