The Kelly Anorak was so much fun to design since a good jacket is the sum of its details (something I talked about in greater depth on Instagram last week here and here). Like usual, this pattern had an extensive secret Pinterest board, but the real genesis for me came from really paying attention to what stylish women were wearing on the street, and trying to find that balance between chic and utilitarian, practical and covetable.

Our Kelly Anorak Sewalong is Now Live!

Hey y’all! We pride ourselves on giving you all the resources you need to achieve absolute sewing success, so I’m super stoked to announce we now have a full, in-depth sewalong online for our Kelly Anorak. This sewalong will walk you through sewing the original pattern in addition to lining it using our lining expansion pack. This is one of the patterns we get the most questions about, so I’m hoping that this sewalong will answer every question you could possibly have about the assembly of this wear-anywhere jacket.

All the posts are now live, so you don’t have to wait for us to post them one by one on the blog. We’ve covered just about everything, from fitting to fabric to sewing flat fell seams, installing snap buttons and grommets and construction from start to finish. In addition, we’ve written a comprehensive guide to sewing with waterproof fabrics and using seam tape to create the ultimate raincoat. We’ve also created a free pattern bonus for you! We love our gussetted pockets but have made a completely waterproof version with an outside flap; you can download that resource here.

A massive thank you to Alexis for writing most of the content for this series. Sewalongs are an intense amount of work and she did a fabulous job. I hope this helps you sew your Kelly with confidence and joy!
