Blazer of Glory Challenge Week 5: Assemble Body & Sew Lapel

We are rollin’ rollin’ rollin’ along with our Blazer of Glory challenge and this week is a big one! Not only will you be fully assembling your jacket body (which means assembling the back and sewing the side and shoulder seams) but you will also be sewing your collars and lapel. This will likely be one of the most time-intensive weeks since sewing the lapel is probably the trickiest part of the entire construction process. This is a week to take your time and carefully read the instructions or re-watch the relevant lessons in our online tailoring workshop as needed. Don’t rush. Being as precise as possible at this stage will make a huge difference in your finished garment.

Since this is a big week, we wanted to offer not one but TWO prizes. The first prize pack is a GORGEOUS pair of rainbow tailor shears from LDH Scissors (a  Canadian company!) and a $50 gift certificate to Cottoneer Fabrics. Our second prize is a $100 gift certificate to MacCulloch and Wallis, a wonderfully well-stocked fabric store and haberdashery in England (and a great source for most of your tailoring needs!) To have a chance at these prizes, we want to see your progress on your body and lapel this week on Instagram. Use the #blazerofglory challenge so we can find you; if you are making a story, make sure to @ tag us so we can see it. As usual, we’ll announce this week’s winner next Monday in our Instagram stories. Can’t wait to see those gorgeous notched lapels come together!
